Many years ago I saw a frequency used for pilot to pilot communication
. They used to just talk to each other on is there a frequency they still use for that?

Most airlines have a company VHF frequency so that they can give the destination ops office a call with requirements such as fuel, catering, passenger requirements such as wheelchairs or UM's (unaccompanied minors). Once you are at a decent altitude your VHF range is enormous so if you want to know what the conditions are like at your next landing then a call on the company frequency to 'anybody landed at xxx lately, this is ZK-XYZ' or a flight number should get a response.

I would also program in

122.750 Air-to-Air Fixed Wing

123.025 Air-to-Air Helocopters

122.850 Multicom

123.450 is designated "long range air-to-air'

I have heard chatter on 122.750 and 122.850 after air shows and fly-ins like the annual Sun-N-Fun in Lakeland, FL

Almost every day I hear chatter on the above airline dispatch frequencies about a medical emergency onboard an aircraft about a sick passenger. Many times there are also mechanical malfunctions that you can hear them discussing with the ground staff... interesting stuff.

This. And the AIRINC national frequencies are good to program in also.

I have just as many "general" aviation frequencies programmed as I do published TWR/TRACON/ARTCC frequencies. During the day, especially when the larger airports are doing arrival/departure rushes, those local/national common frequencies are just as busy as the published ATC ones. At least in my area...

129.450 is a good frequency to monitor for this.

Where from?

It is active here on the east side of Missouri. Hearing medical related comms with United 1882 right now.
Only took less than a minute to hear medical traffic!
United 1882 is in range of my ADSB receiver and looks to only be maybe 70 miles out from me.

Thanks frazpo.

Great timing! Yes I caught the 1882 traffic on a recording also. So you also use an adsb receiver in combo with monitoring. Same here, fun stuff.
