Are you sure????? Over on scan new England the last confirmation was June 9th 2012 and is also listed as police dispatch. Maybe the fire and police departments swapped channels. The radio reference database is the largest and most up to date database on the web. I doubt it would be wrong.

Wish you were correct but for the past year, nothing at all gets transmitted from their Police frequency, just the fire. There were 2 police cars next door and nothing ever came from the 483.82500. The rumor in Plainville is they went digital or some other method. Very strange!

Try either old lowband channels or any of the water department or dpw channels also the town has a license for the 4900 MHz band. I have no idea what that would be used for. Let me know what you come up with!!"

4900 Mhz is microwave for fixed point to point communications. In other words, it's microwave relay.

483.3750 is active with fire department traffic. I'm listening to 483.825 with no PL or DPL to see if anything has changed, but I'm not that close and I doubt that they are that busy, so it could be a while. To the OP, if you haven't reprogrammed the channel in without PL or DPL, try that. If they've converted over to P25, you should know it soon enough.

No, not the trunking portion, This is not a trunk system. Are you doing this by hand or via software? I find it fairly cumbersome to program the scanner by hand, so I use software.

There are a couple of free programs available that will do very nicely for programming the scanner.

If you are programming by hand, you will need to use the menu system to get to the "Audio Type" selection for that particular channel.

I can give you a bit more help if I know how you are programming.

Doing this from memory, so it might not be exact. However, once you get down to that point, select analog. Then another screen will come up with selections like "Search" "DCS" and "CTCSS". DCS is the generic name for what we have been calling DPL. DPL is a brand name for Motorola. CTCSS is the generic for PL, which again is a Motorola brand name.

Select DCS and then scroll until you get to 703 and either press the big scroll wheel or the Yes key.

Which cable are you waiting for the Uniden one or a generic USB to serial converter?

Waiting for the usb. It came with a serial which no one uses anymore. No DCS. I have set audio AGC and the other three, digital, analog or all.
