Hey Everyone,

Ok, I need some help here. I have had the WIN96 program for a little while now. I THOUGHT that I had figured out how to use it. The other day I decided to edit my scanner's banks. I wanted to set up a bank that I would only pick up DSP and NCCPD dispatch F-1's. I loaded up one of the Win 96 files I got off of here (I think it was from AudioDave). Well, I understand that you go into Win96 and Lockout the Trunk ID's from the file that I loaded which I don't want. In BANK "0", all I have as the "unlocked trunk ID's" that I want to monitor are NCCPD DISP 1 (ID-06224) in SUBBANK "0," position "00" and DSP N-CMD (ID-02128) in SUBBANK "1," position "00." THAT'S ALL THAT I HAVE UNLOCKED.

Here's the problem...

When I turn the scanner on, I am getting broadcasts from ID's that I CAN'T EVEN SEE in any of the banks / subbanks of the WIN 96 Program.

I am sitting here right now and I have TRUNK ID 21744 broadcasting on NCC SITE 1, TRUNK ID 05072 broadcasting on NCC SITE 1 to name a few.

Can anyone please tell me HOW these ID's got in there? I know that they are DEL DOT or something like that...but I never put them in there, nor can I see them in my programming of the scanner.

Does anyone know what I am talking about here?

Ok. I did a little poking around and I think I might have figured out an answer to my question... I think I had asked about the same issue a while back, when I first got my scanner and Win 96 Program... I am assuming that my issue has something to do with OPEN and CLOSED MODE?

Here is the original link from long ago...

http://radioreference.com/modules.p...le=viewtopic&p=34049&highlight=#34049

Can someone please confirm this is what is going on?

Also, if the unit it in OPEN MODE, and can pick up ID's that aren't programmed into the scanner... WHERE ARE THE ID's coming from????

I can understand if the scanner can pick-up an ID that I program and tell the scanner to monitor, but I don't understand WHERE it is picking up the ID's that I never programmed into it.

It sounds like you're in "open" mode. Go back and make sure you have the scan bank in closed. There is a box near the top that needs to be checked.

It picks up the ID's directly from the system you are monitoring. In open mode it picks up everything on the trucked system.

Ok, putting the unit into "CLOSED" mode did the trick.

BUT...can someone please explain WHERE the ID's are coming from that I can't even see in the programming?

When the pro-96 is in "open Mode" it detects and locks on active talkgroups from the control channel. This is simular to the id search on Uniden scanners.

That's sounds like what my 785 and 250 are doing. I'm picking up talk groups I have not programmed into the radio. For the life of me I can not figure out what I did to the programing to cause this. I am using the Butel programing.
