Interstellar Radio Operator
I am currently going to school in college station and i was wondering if any one knew what computer system the police use in Bryan and college station, as well as Dallas and Richardson.
Yes. Think of it like a LAN system covering the entire city. Officers use it to run information, recieve calls, and recieve other confidential information that dispatch doesn't want to release over the air. Like any other system, logging in requires a user ID and password. For example, an officer going on duty must give his call number, username, and car number. Fire departments use them to get patient information, additional notes on a call, as well as gate codes for getting into gated apartment complexes and other secured locations. Recently, College Station Utilities got them to dispatch trouble calls, and even enter billing information and call dispositions.severance17 said:so the computer is equipped with a radio transponder to communicate with the bases computer?
