I am currently going to school in college station and i was wondering if any one knew what computer system the police use in Bryan and college station, as well as Dallas and Richardson.

Are you talking about their mobile data system itself, or the entire criminal justice computer network?

Not sure about the MDT program they use on the computers, but I can find out. The data streams are 860.7375 (Bryan - DataRadioIP) and 858.4375 (College Station - RD-LAP 19200 baud).

College Station uses a Motorola MDT system with Motorola-made computers in the units. Bryan uses terminals that are Panasonic Toughbooks. It's nice to see someone else around here that likes scanners!!!

Yes. Think of it like a LAN system covering the entire city. Officers use it to run information, recieve calls, and recieve other confidential information that dispatch doesn't want to release over the air. Like any other system, logging in requires a user ID and password. For example, an officer going on duty must give his call number, username, and car number. Fire departments use them to get patient information, additional notes on a call, as well as gate codes for getting into gated apartment complexes and other secured locations. Recently, College Station Utilities got them to dispatch trouble calls, and even enter billing information and call dispositions.

id love to think i have a nice set up but to me it seems that i don't get very good reception even with a new antenna and signal booster it seems the police get great reception and i don't. why is that?

Are you using it indoors? If so, the system is not designed to penetrate buildings. Also, the units may use a special antenna that boosts reception. I'm not quite sure how this all works, but that is my best guess.

no i am using it in my car and the antenna i have is out side the truck.
