Does anyone out there have experience listening to Fleetnet on a BCT8 in Port Hope?
I have three collegues in Port Hope who only get intermittant MOH conversations and some of those are garbled. They tell me that they aren't getting the "B1 iDscan" message on the screen, which tells me they aren't getting a control signal.... can anybody tell me if they are using a fleetnet scanner in Port Hope? I have Cobourg programmed into it... sould I try Whitby or Pontypool?

Cobourg should do it. I get it with a rubber duck when I visit my sister-in-law in Baltimore (north of Cobourg) there is non-stop MOH on 35072 Lindsay South.

Ponty Pool and Whitby will have no Zone 2 traffic on them. For Port Hope you are looking at Cobourg, Peterborough and Campbellford towers. I am here in Bowmanville and I have no trouble with Cobourg and Peterborough towers. The Cobourg tower is nice and strong and I don't seem to have any problems with missed conversations.

Not me personally, but there was recent discussion; check the archives here for details (going back a few months at most).

BCT8s

I programmed three BCT8s and sent them to Port Hope. They were working 100% when they left hastings, and they only get occasional transmissions, mostly garbled, and don't seem to be getting the control signal. Has anyone noticed dead spots right in Port Hope? The 401 corridor seems fine...

Boo Uniden ... Bad BCT8s

Well, get this. I took a drive down to Port Hope, and my BCT8 worked perfectly. Turns out that the three inoperative scanners have sequential serial numbers and all three are exhibiting the same garbled transmissions. They also won't lock on to the control channel.

That makes FOUR of TWELVE BCT8s I ordered that are malfunctioning. Got to say that I am not too impressed with Uniden right now.

I dont know if my memory serves me right, but wasnt there a thread a couple months back about the BCT8 being screwed on MOH stuff, someone was saying that if they removed the casing it worked fine, but with the casing on it was the whole garbled crap.....btw, my buddy who lives just down the street from me in ajax has a BCT8 and gets the garbled on MOH, but with the same antenna on my BC250D and BC796D i get it perfectly...so i am gonig to have to go with the option that there is nothing wrong other then your scanner, Uniden kinda @#^$ed up that model pretty badly by the sound of it
