I went on a school field trip a couple of weeks ago, to the "Save the Bay" campus at the Port 'O Providence. On the way in driving, I notice MANY antennae on MANY buildings. I live about 5.6 miles as crow flies or so south west of that area. Are there any people who live close to that area that might be able to receive signals and try identifying them? The only agency I can hear from my house is the Port of Prov security freq. But with all those antennas everywhere I am sure there must be more to hear. I was thinking of parking somewhere over there and use the "close call" feature on my bcd996p2. But I am unfamiliar with area and dont want to draw attention. Here is a GOOGLE MAP view of the area.

Years ago 464.500 was active. You might keep an ear on the marine frequencies for the tug boats plus the common ones (ch 13, 16, & 9).

I would imagine most two-way is digital now.
Yes I do have marine freqs running. I am not close enough to use close call. But I will monitor those marine channels.

Bob, I like your idea of sitting in an area and do some monitoring, maybe a s a group we could have a meetup and monitor different bands. (safety is in numbers in some of those areas?

Yeah I was thinking that too. I really try to avoid cities and rarely go there. I went on Google street view and that park looks pretty safe and OK during day. It looks like they lock it up at night, cause theres a big gate at entrance. Theres lots of room to park too. I am planning on going some time this month, not exactly sure. I live a short distance away in Cranston. I would just take rt 95 to Allens ave exit, then the park right off Allens ave. Pretty easy to find. I was going to go in the morning like around 10 or 11. Not sure if weekday or weekend but I think weekday might be better cause more people working in those places during week. So a better chance to hear something. I am retired so really no problem for me.
