A box was transmitted at 17:21 on 9-8-08 for a fire at the adjoining warehouse of this company.
Engine 1, Truck 1 and Squad 1 saw a column of smoke as they were leaving station 1, across
the Willamette river. Crossing the river on the Morrison bridge, they reported heavy smoke
showing from a single story building.

About 10 minutes after arrival, part of the roof collapsed.

Truck 1 raised their bucket while Engine 4 (background) started their deck gun.

Meanwhile, crews on the other side of the main building (not yet involved) broke through
an overhead door and ran lines inside to prevent the fire from extending into that building.

Engine 1 connected to a hydrant on the corner and fed the truck and several hand lines.

Engine 4 had a hydrant on the next corner and they also ran lines to their gun and supplied
several hand lines.

No pot of gold at the end of this rainbow, only a Batt. Chief.

Truck 4 ran a ladder pipe on the north side of the building.

Some time later, the street on the right lived up to its name - Water Street.

Engine 19's driver was looking for that pot of gold with his T.I.C.(Thermal Imaging Camera).

Engine 1's Lt. in the command vehicle with the on duty Deputy Chief.

Rehab 10 and Air Unit 10 went into action.

Rehabs 10 and 12 are identical and are equipped with toilets.

Some of the first in companies taking a break.

It was quite fun listening to them work over the radio; they do work like professionals:)

Those are some nice looking support units! You gotta love the bread truck air unit! :D

Truck 1 looks like an older model Sutphen...maybe a '95 (just a guess)...is that a reserve / spare in those photos, and if not, how soon before they replace it?

Thanks for the photos and the commentary!

That's the regular Truck 1. Sorry, I don't know about replacing it.

Great pics!

As always, Dick, great pictures! I work right across the river in downtown and saw the header...flipped on the radio and the box was just going out...heard the Station 1 report of heavy smoke coming out of the station. The guys/gals did a great job stopping the fire...I thought the whole block was going to go then some!
