Was seeing if anyone can advise myself, I am hearing sounding like "Failsoft " Tones or something.

Frequencies 855.5125 and 856.8375. Strongest signal is 855.5125. From Location in Mechanicsville VA is the strongest. I've heard it for weeks and weeks. Wasn't sure if anyone else hearing this , and/or what it could be...

Went to Short Pump last night and took my scanner with me to see if I would be able to hear this system. I have never actually heard much traffic on the system itself since I started scanning 10+ years ago but loaded up the two frequencies.

Around the Gum Spring exit on I-64 I started hearing the "beeping" on 855.5125. What is interesting is it does sound like a system that has entered "failsoft" mode but the tones emitted sound different than any other Motorola system that I have heard before. There is open air followed by two quick beeps every 10-15 seconds or so. Most of the Motorola systems I have encountered have had one single beep instead of the two. Maybe it is due to older hardware?

I am glad I wasn't the only on hearing it, It's been doing these Sounds and Beeping for a while, and only system was thinking was Radio Communication Type II system. But that hasn't been used in while from my knowledge. Wonder if anyone awaare of this and/or if it's under maintaince for swtiching users over, or not in used system being upgraded.

I checked it out again last weekend and got nothing. Looks like the system has been taken off off-line as far as I can see.

I’ll keep an eye on it to see if it pops back up, but consider considering it. It’s a Motorola type II system It’s probably been decommissioned if I were to guess.

This is not the first time frequencies from this particular system were brought up in a thread. What really needs to happen is that somebody close enough, and with the right tools to be able to tell if there is an actual control channel online or any activity on the "failsoft" frequencies, should ultimately figure if it's live or not -- and if it's dead, actually make the submission to the RRDB to have it deprecated so that it doesn't show as an active system anymore.
