I have seen and replied to many inquiries about trunk systems and
request for groups id's concerning Sevier county in the past. I have also
informed that Sevier county does not have a trunk system and that
the one listed is actually for Knox County. This has been true in the fact
the system listed IS Knox County's trunk....but now is looks like there
might actually be one on the way.
I have seen activity on the FCC website concerning charges for both
Sevierville and Sevier County law enforcement. This indicates to me
the trunk system might be on the way for the county. I have heard rumors
for years now but it looks like it is coming and might be on the air in the
future.
The frequencies that are being 'charged' on the FCC website are as follows:

857.7375 mhz (listed as Sevier County of)
858.2375 mhz (listed as Sevier County of)
859.2375 mhz (listed as Sevier County of)
859.9875 mhz (listed as Sevier County Law Enforcement)
860.7375 mhz (Listed as Sevier County of)

The 'listed as Sevier County of' has a referral to the police chief of
the Sevierville Police Department.

The 'Sevier County Law Enforcement' has a referral to the Sheriff.

I am guessing this is the frequencies that will be used for the trunk
and might be on some time soon.
They are not active as of yet, I have them in my scanner and check
them about once a week to see if a control channel shows up.
If anything pops up on these freqs, I will let you know the day I hear
anything.
Take care
Danny

I received an e-mail today from the police chief of the Sevierville PD.
My inquiries where about the trunk system and asked about the
timeline.
My reply was they were considering it, but the lack of money was
keeping it from happening. He told me he had hoped to see some
government money to help with the cost but noting had ever come
of it. So as of now they have the Trunk system on hold until funding
became available, which could be awhile. They DO have freqs for the
system already, but the money never came. So plans are on hold
and the conventional system will continue to be used.

Just thought I would drop a line to let you know what I received.
Take care,
Danny

And to think at one time it was on the electric Co. freq back in the 60's according to a Sgt who told me, then 37.26 up til about 1976, then 460.025 with all 3 cities sharing it(NCIC checks were fun with Gatlinburg having the only machine at the time) 4 channel GE Master 2's and Motorola Micors and now seperate uhf channels. 800mhz should be fun........

Hopefully the money comes along soon! The really need to have a new radio system in the county. Like many other counties in Tennessee, getting the frequencies is simple, the difficult part is getting the money for the equipment.

Updating the 911 System in some counties is a problem also. The elected officials keep saying the same old stuff "lack of money"!

In a few counties, the vital departments such as public safety is at the bottom of the list when the budget is planned and approved. Then the planners decide to ask why a department's services is not like the ones in other areas of the state.
