Been years since you could hear much during a POTUS visit...all SS is encrypted, and if the local PD stuff is capable, they often go encrypted for the event. I'm guessing that is the case in Boston.
What is interesting is the ATC stuff...approach, departure, tower, ground! Listen in to the regular freq and possibly the military equivalent. That is how we knew AF1 was in range and got photos of the landing. Same for departure...you heard SAM7200(?) ask ground for permission to start engines. Once POTUS was on board, it was AF1 requesting taxi and departure clearance. I gotta tell ya when those FOUR engines are at speed and she takes off at that steep angle it is very cool.

He'll be doing something at Terminal E before he heads south. MSP is telling people to expect unannounced road closures in the area. They will not be releasing the routes in advance.

Back in May I was driving through Nashville on I-40 when the VPOTUS visited. They closed the highway in both directions for well over an hour with no warning. There was just about no radio traffic on the THP radio system, just a couple of messages about moving units from ramp to ramp.

I expect it will be similar Monday.

I would expect that the UMass PD will be active on 460.100, The T police will be at JFK Station, State police, Boston Police, Environmental PD, and Coast Guard Marine units will be active. Coast Guard and State police aircraft will also be in the area. They may use the parking garage at UMass as a staging area. UMass is closed for the day. UMass PD is also licensed for these frequencies, 453.2875, 453.7875. I have never heard them on those frequencies. Harbor point security may be active, they might be DMR. The JFK Library Security is on 408.***, I have never heard enc. on their channel. Quincy might have marine units involved.

The air space around Logan will be cleared, and I would expect that there will be no transponder data sent by AF 1.

Interestingly, there was an AWACS overflying the area this morning with it's transponder on. I didn't have time to see where the originated or were going, but they were at 42K feet when in the Boston area, so it might have been a training flight.

Sounds interesting from scanning angle. Went to Trumps visit in Manchester and sat in a nearby parking lot and did get some comm on simplex. Nothing secret. Just wanted to go down along the route at an intersection to grab some pics and the motorcade. From north of boston so does anyone know what time the event is, heard traffic is going to be a mess so dont wanna waste my time.

His complete itinery was published on a forum here for his Pittsburg trip, and Harris route in Boston last month (didnt go cause of pouring rain), why is no one sharing times on this trip?

If im going to monitor air traffic and maybe some AF1 pics, which I have never done, where would be a good place to try without getting in traffic mess, Maybe Orient Heights?

Probably because they weren't released until yesterday and people have real jobs outside the forum so couldn't get on here. That said...

Est. AF1 Arrival: 11:20 AM ET
Est. AF1 Departure: 7:55 PM ET
(NOTE: Actual times may vary and won't be released until Sunday night)

Location: Boston Logan International Airport, Terminal E, departure level

JFK Library Remarks Logistics:
Estimated Time of Remarks: 4:00 PM ET
Location: John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, Columbia Point, Boston

AF1 usually flies with transponder on and can be tracked on ADSB Exchange. The link below tracks all 5 planes used as AF1 when in use. There is usually AF1 and a backup plane using callsign SAM46.

Thank you very much. I had a real job in LE but retired after getting shot at 3 times, small stab wound, 6 broken bones, fractured heel that slows me in walking, but got the Medal of Valor for saving 4 lives. just a side note.

Damn..thanks for your service. I have law enforcement in both sides of my family up the wazoo, certainly not an easy way to make a living. Sometimes being a LEO is more difficult than being in the military during war time

Good to know. I waste spend many hours a day looking at ADSB Exchange for flights in my area. I'll be out of the house tomorrow when he flies in, so I probably won't get to see any of that.

NARA is 408.3000R 97.4 and does not have any ENC capabilities, but always an interesting monitoring when the Library hosts events.
