Power Cable wire assignments

Hi, just received a second BCT15X that came with a brand new power cable. As none of these scanners has a manual can someone please confirm the wire assignments:

Red =
Orange =
Black =

Sort of evident I know but what is the third wire for? Permanent power? Chassis?

If for mobile use ( In a vehicle)...

Red = pos 12 volt
Black = Ground
Orange = to dash lights to dim display lights with vehicle dash lights...
