Here behind beautiful Rose Tree Park my TV fizzled and then the power went out at about 7:00am.

I called 911 and told them so. Turned out it was two intersections from the house a tree tore down wires.

The new Rose Tree Fire company freqs. sprang to life. FINALLY, line of sight.

PECO's old EDAC system didn't chime in at all but were on the scene and by 8:45am juice flowed.

Had my 396T and Pro 97 on the job. Have I told you how much I love battery operated scanners?

All depts. were exceptionally well coordinated which was very pleasing.

So what does one have for breakfast while the power is out? Why cheerios and milk with banana of course. But I REALLY wanted toast, leftover steak and eggs! There's always lunch. :)

Reminded me to winterize my old generator which failed since it's gas had turned to varnish after no use in years. Time to RTFM.

Here in PA we call 911 with power outages....and the electric company when someone is breaking into our house. See the logic.

Any chance you got PL or DPL's on the new RTM freq?

I guess it's time to give the Peco system last rites in the dB based on your listening.

It also tore down the verizon landline so I used the cell phone. I didn't have PECO on the cell phone and calling cell info on the cell phone cost money. 911 is a free call.

Also did I mention I love having a battery in the laptop when the power goes? Got to save everything and hibernate. A poor man's UPS.

Dave,

Sorry no DPL or PL data. I missed my chance.

And I call myself a scannist?!?

You probably can kill the EDAC system. I only knew PECO was there by comms from Rose Tree Fire Co. They even had to give the nearest pole number over Rose Tree Fire to forward to Peco.

Andy,
I too have heard the new Sta.73 freqs in use on Sat 12-8 in the afternoon. I was working around the house and saw the scanner had a PL on the screen but don't remember it and couldn't get to it to save it. There was also much chatter on Ch.12 about some new radios they were using comming in with low audio, I don't know their location at the time but I was hearing the Ch.12/Ch."73" conversation clearly 1/2 mile south of Williamsom Trade School. I think we will be hearing more on these new freqs soon based on the chatter yesterday about the new radios and the fact that they have always been high traffic radio users. (Trying to say they talk a lot in a nice way.....)

Peco is 1800-841-4141 (have had to call that plenty of times!)

Is 73's new freq. repeated? I never hear anything on it. I put it in the scanner about 2 weeks ago.
