I've noticed they seem to grab whatever radio is available when they get in at the beginning of their shift.

Medic 10 could have RID 12345 one day and 6789 the next. This says to me that they are all mobile and not tied to the unit/vehicle.

Actually, sorry, I was thinking of Regina EMS. It's possible that's also happening in the small towns. Bank of radios on chargers at the hall and the medic picks up a random one at the beginning of the shift.

I've noticed the same RID issue happening with STAR-9 / STAR-11 and the Link Center sometimes. Not sure why it happens.

I was wondering if maybe they use a different system that pipes the audio into the PPSTN as the Link Center RID and then at some point they switch to using the PPSTN directly and the "real" RID shows up?

There are some ID's and unit numbers that stay the same, I assume these are mobile radios. Some ID's I have 7 different unit numbers for, I wonder if there is a way to link a radio ID with a station?

Do EMS vehicles have a mobile repeater system that the portable would ID with the vehicle radio? Not sure how the mobile repeaters work, do they have the same ID as the repeater or does it pass the portable ID through?
