I have a Unication G4 and have Darke County already programmed into it. Although I want to add Preble/Montgomery Counties, almost use it as a scanner but need help with doing so using G Series PPS

The G4 is a great radio. (I have one) However, you likely will not be able to "scan" all the counties at the same time. It is possible to add the programming. Do you have PPS software installed on a computer? If so what version?
Do you know specifically what talk groups (Law, Fire, schools Local Govt, etc) and MARCS site you what/need?
Preble Co is not too bad, it only has ~24TG's. However, Montgomery Co has a ton of TG's to pick from.

On the G4 you will only be able to listen to one county at a time. On the G4 when you turn the radio on it is going to look for the closest and strongest control frequency that you have programed into the radio. Once it locks onto that frequency it will not let go of that frequency and will just look for the talk groups that you have set for that county. Your best bet would be to buy a Uniden SDS 100 or a Uniden SDS 200 that way you can scan more than one county at a time. If that's what you choose to do, I already have made up for my SDS Radio's un up to date favorites list made for all 88 counties in Ohio and a hand full for Indiana. I Know I have a Wayne and Randolph County favorites files already made up. That way you could listen in on both states at the same time. When I say I have an up to date favorites file on all 88 Ohio counties it does not mean that you are scanning all 88 counties it just means I have them and you set the radio to listen to the counties that you want to listen to and that you are in range . I live in Butler County and get up to Darke county on an occasion to get some Maid-Rite Sandwiches LOL. If you decide to go with an SDS radio and you need some help setting it up I am more than willing to help out.
