Hello everyone, I listen to my trunktracker everyday and for the last couple of days my preset county frequency is nothing but a static sound every time someone keys a mic. Is this due to the signal being scrambled or a problem with my scanner? Please help???

It's time for you to purchase a digital scanner, if you want to keep listening. ;)

I am told both the County and the City will be running full time encryption once Olney is on line. I wouldn't bother spending the money for a digital scanner if they are the only folks you listen to.

well they are the main two I listen to ...so if they are going to go full time encryption...which scanner do you recommend or which way is the easiest to listen to scrambled digital signal?

IF they are going to full time encryption, then there is only one choice you have. Move to an area where you'll be able to listen without encryption. ;)

Yep, I am afraid that gewecke is correct. That is the point of encryption, keep folks from listening.

I have a Grecom psr-600 Digital scanner. Will it not be able to pick up the new channels?

I checked the data base and entered new frequencies shown for Olney PD. I entered frequency 154.3550 into my BC996XT and set the scanner to receive digital and analog. I picked up a P25 digital signal NAC 2F3. I'm pretty sure the dispatch I'm hearing is Olney PD. I also entered 151.2050 and have not caught any traffic on this frequency. The Data base showed an encode frequency of 155.640 so I assume this will be a base repeater like 154.3550.

All traffic is in the clear with no encryption at this time. The signal is stronger at my location than the old UHF frequencies Olney PD used to use.

I thought I read where Richland County consolidated its dispatch for the whole county to Olney PD. At one time Richland Co was a PSAP (911 center) as was Olney PD. The city used to handle their own radio and 911 calls.

I haven't heard Richland County on their old VHF Hi-band frequency in the last few days.

Olney PD got rid of their dispatch within about the last year. They moved dispatch to Richland County. The move took some time and adjusting. Normally 2 dispatchers seem to be on duty, one for Olney, and one for County, from monitoring. I don't know how they handle Fire and EMS, if it is who ever answers the call, or if they have set agencies. They are the PSAP for the county.

Hey Vascar2...any updates on the Olney PD freq.? Are you still able to hear all the county and city traffic? Shoot me an email and let me know what you have found to work if anything. cuffnup@yahoo.com

I am still hearing Olney PD and Richland County on the P 25 digital that I posted in my above post. They are still loud and clear for me. I have not heard any encrypted traffic on either channel. I'm using a Uniden BC996XT digital scanner. This scanner is pricey but I like it.

The signal must not carry too far out of Richland Co I have been unable to receive anything indoors on my 996
