For all of you Pro-106 owners, is the scanner capable of programming every possible type of system all by hand and without software? How about trunking systems with multiple custom frequency tables? Because for the Pro-96 I need the cable and software to program those types of systems and now I want a scanner that will scan ANYTHING and program EVERYTHING by hand. Thanks.

It looks like you can, but patience and time will help alot and a doctor for carpal tunnel syndrome. But your best bet would be to read the the manual from online to determine if it is do-able for you is the important thing. I maybe able to do it (although I would never try thats what computers are for) .but maybe you couldnt or vica-versa. But there are instructions in the manual to it.

I just got mine for christmas today, and i got the programming down in about an hour. Its not too hard, but it is very different compared to the Pro-96. Right, it does take patience, alot. And as far as ive gone, custom tables are do-able manually.

All current and past programmable scanners are made to be programmed manually so that the owner can know how to do it on the fly. It is always best to learn how to manually program so that when you don't have any programming software in your back pocket, you have the ability to do so.

Yes, that one thing that you couldn't do by hand in the 96 (multi-table TRS) can be done by hand on the 106. Like everything else, it is much, much easier with the software.

Not true, in the case of the 96/2096 anyway. For UHF trunked systems (have two I monitor) you MUST use software to access the multi-tables to program. There is NO WAY to do it manually.

I programmed everything with psredit500 and evrthing is running like clockwork, Im picking up towns close enough by that I always triend picking them up with my pro-95 but never could? I get them in now with the 106 loud&clear!! My question is now that I have it programmed and if I just need to add 3 or 4 new prequencies at a time can I do this by hand without messing up whats in there or is it best to go back in to the software and open up the file from the last program transfer and add the frequencies in and re-download everything again to the 106? I would just like to add a few D.E.A. frequencies and ATF, things like that and when I did try to add via psredit500 through my membership here I couldnt find them to download because of me not knowing State etc. locations? I do find the frequencies but thrugh the software? (I hope this question makes sense? )

That is correct.

To OP question, set TSYS to P25 Auto for Bergan county, enter the controls of all towers you can receive, and set a wildcard or enter Talkgroup Objects. Run scanner and it will populate the tables correctly off of the control frequency.

You can add them from they keypad, but it's easier through the software. To add them via the keyboard, Press the PGM key, and then the F1 (New) key and add them there.

In the software, select the Import menu, then Radio Reference, then Conventional (assuming you're going conventional). Enter your RR user name and password, and then click on the "Query RR Web Service" button. Select "United States", then Your state, and then your county.

In the next pull down below, there will be an entry for your county's agencies, then you can select the frequency types, and the cities below that.

Thanks Mikey but I've done that already, after you sent me that starter package for me state etc. I DL,d that to my scanner but wanted to tweak it with colored LCD etc for each list, now I have it almost perfect, The frequencies I want to add I can find here in the "Federal Gov. Frequencies" but not when I use software with all my info because these are not in my state? So I was hoping to just add these few ( FBI, DEA etc to my lists? Can I add to software by typing them in? Or is there a way to search federal frequencies not set for certain states in your software?
