Hi folks - I could use some help if anyone is available..I just fixed the heap error I was getting on my scanner by following the "press 0, then 1"....method that I found in a thread. My scanner is already programmed, and I am a newbie in this area so basically I don't want to delete anything by pushing the wrong button(s). If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated, and thank you to anyone reading this for your time!

Hi & welcome to the RR forums:
Do you have memory channels programmed in? If yes you need to press the number corresponding to the bank where your memory channels reside. See here and here for more info

If you pressed 0 and 1 to reset the scanner, that also erases the programming. That explains why there is nothing enabled. There is nothing to scan. A heap error usually means you have a talkgroup not affiliated with a system.

Yes it did have all the channels for my area programmed in (not by me). Did I really just wipe all of that out? And thank you both for the replies!

Yes, you did wipe out the programming. If you use 0 and 2 for the reset, that resets the scanner without erasing the working memory. What is your city, county, and state and which agencies would you like to monitor?

😖...I am in Brooklyn Park Minnesota - Hennepin County. I had all my surrounding counties, State Patrol, Medic flights, and a ton of cities.. I don't even know how many. I had some programming info at one time...thank you again for takin the time to help me with this - I work and take care of my elderly mother, so free time is few and far between.

There is an awful lot to monitor in Hennepin County. I would suggest clicking on Report and request that your thread be moved to the Minnesota forum. There is far too much to enter manually. Hopefully, another member may be close to you and offer to program from their laptop or clone their scanner to yours. Anyone with a PSR-500, PSR600, Pro-106, Pro-197, Pro-651, Pro-652, WS1040, or WS1065 would be able to clone scanners. To clone the scanners, all you need is a short TRS cable with mini stereo plugs on both ends. If you have the USB programming cable for the scanner, someone could attach a programming file for you to use. All of the software programs have a 30 day free trial that you could use to program your scanner. I use Butel ARC500 Basic software for my programming.
