Well, to be honest, the only difference is the - (GND) plug barrel size from the adapter. At that, it's only .7mm larger on the "C" vs. "B". If you look at the construction of the power plug in the scanner, you would see that the ground is spring loaded (actually spring metal). Up to a small point, this .7 mm isn't gonna make any difference at all. The tough fit, again up to a point, is the center + pin. That has to be right on to fit properly. This is why an incorrectly sized adapter plug will do it's job of cutting off the internal battery power but won't make a good connection for the plus voltage on the center pin.
