Every since my area rebanded, I have not gotten anything from my pro 106 scanner. Had it a year. Is it time for a new scanner already?

No, it's not time for a new scanner already due to rebanding.

However, you do need to enter the new control channels for the sites you're trying to monitor. And, if any of the frequencies for the sites have a "0" (zero) in the fourth decimal place, instead of a 5, then you'll also need to enter the custom band plan.

Looking at Safe-T in the database, it appears that the Vincennes site (Site 012 (C)), in Knox County, would require the custom band plan. If you are using software, see this Wiki page. Rebanding support, on how to enter the custom tables using Win500, PSREdit500, & ARC500 (the three programs for the GRE made object oriented digital scanners, such as the Pro-106) is covered at the lower part of the page.

If you're not using software, or just want to do this on the scanner itself without software, see the instructions on the bottom of this article in the Wiki.

If you haven't upgraded the firmware since you bought the -106 I'd recommend you so. Assuming you have the programming cable, just download the latest update from RadioShack.com, run it and follow the on-screen prompts. HTH.

So the upgrade to the firmware will cure his problem or does he havevto enter the custom band plan? I'm asking because someday I might encounter this with my Pro-197.

Not saying it will solve his specific problem but the firmware upgrade (1) can't hurt and (2) includes -- I believe -- some fixes for programming frequencies. For me, it would be easier to update the firmware (takes less than a minute) and try installing the latest RR database update than to manually enter a custom bandplan... but that's me. HTH,

Based on his location, the site closest to him recently rebanded, and would require the custom band plan to track correctly. Tom's suggestion to do the firmware update would guarantee that the scanner would accept the band plan. Early production models would not until the update was done; presumably, current production is up to date, but without more information from the OP, no idea whether that specific scanner is 'reband ready' without an update or not.

Presuming firmware is up to snuff, then the OP can either just enter the band plan using his software, or, as Tom suggested, simply re-import the system (or just the site, actually), & let the software do it automatically.
