Pro-164 Scan Problem

Hello,

Looking for help on a problem with a Pro-164
The problem is when I turn the unit on and press scan it just stays on one bank and the bank number flashes
but it doesn't scan anything. If I press manual a few times and then scan it will start to scan perfectly.
It's an intermittent problem. If I press manual to listen to one channel for a while and then try to scan again
it will just blink the bank number again and not scan.
Although I can "trick the scanner to start scanning, I would like to fix it so it works correctly all the time.
Has anyone seen this problem before? anyone know the fix?

Sounds like there's dirt/dust/grime on the contacts on the circuit board or the contacts are worn down. If it's still covered under warrant (manufacture or otherwise), I would try getting it fixed by them. If not, you may be able to do it yourself. I haven't taken mine apart so I don't know exactly what's involved with taking it apart.

Just an FYI-- if you didn't buy an extended service plan and it's less than a year old, you may have a heck of a time trying to send it back. (at least I did because the employees at my local RS are complete morons). The stupid "shack" number told me to bring it to the store and the store told me to call the number. Finally I got a hold of the district manager and they told me to bring it to the store.
