For the price, the answer is yes. It isn't as capable as the GRE 800/Whistler 1080, but you can't touch any other P25 trunking scanner for that price. I have one and it does quite well with my local simulcast system.
Battery life is fully dependent on how many scanlists you scan at one time and how you have the lights and alerts set. I can get up to 8 hrs from a set of fully charged Harbor Freight 2600mah batteries.

If you can find one under $200 I would grab it, if you only need p.1 decode. I've been very happy with mine. It works well with the Safe-T System and with conventional/analog stuff as well.
