pro 197-pro 2096

I put a 197 and 2096 side by side and the 2096 picks up 10 times the traffic the 197 does on ohio marcs.Wonder what is going on ? THE 197 picks up uhf and vhf better than the 2096 but the 197 is almost deft on 800mhz.This is the second 197 I tryed as I took the first one back when I bought it because it would not pick up 800mhz that great. Well the second one will not pick up 800mhz that great either.Anybody had a problem picking up Marcs 800 traffic on the 197,if so let me know what you did to correct the problem. hanks.

What antenna are you using, when trying to listen on 800mhz. ??

It could be overload from nearby cell phone antenna sites. Try the attenuator.

Good luck with my PRO-197

I've personally had very good luck with my PRO-197 monitoring MARCS in my pickup truck, the only thing that I monitor with the PRO-197 is MARCS and I use a glass mount cell phone antenna. I'm not 100% sure what is considered a "good" distance as far as distance monitoring 800MHz goes but I am getting sites 25+ miles away on my mobile setup.

useing a scantenna and a LP 118-1000 antenna and it is not overload, already checked that.

found the problem with the 197, I set it to stat not roam and it picks up really great now. Wow what a difference that made. I knew it had to be something simple.
