Good day everyone
I bought my Pro-2006 sometime in the 90's.
In November of 2006 I bought the items seen in the images.

Can someone tell me exactly what I have here?

Also, is there anyone here that is interested in replacing my screen, or know of anyone that does this?

Not sure I'm getting email from the board, so I'll check back here when I can.light panel ii.jpg

Thanks and take care

That's the blue backlight panel. I once replaced the backlight on a PRO-2005 and you need good soldering skills and it involved quite a bit of surgery.

Thanks for the reply.
So one of the images has solder lugs on it, and one doesn't.
Do you know why I have two items?

Is there anyone on the board that does that kind of thing that you know of?

Take care
Bob

If you look carefully at the right-hand end of the bottom part, there appear to be the tail-end of solder lugs there.

In (very) loose terms, the process goes:
- Disassemble scanner front panel
- Disassemble display panel
- Remove old/failed EL panel.
- Cut new/replacement EL panel to match (including solder lug locations)
- Solder new EL panel in place
- Reassemble display panel
- Reassemble scanner front panel.

If you want to see what the job would actually entail, there are writeups here from people who have done the job (I have not, yet,) and the "manuals" link in my sig will go do a directory that contains the PRO-2006 factory service manual, that will also tell you how to get in there.

I think that these two threads have some good info:

Thanks for the info.
I was asking if there are any shops left that work on scanners.

Take care

Only one I can think of is G&G Communications. Definitely contact them first to make sure they can / will do it.

It appears G&G may no longer be an option from the link above dated Feb 4th 2026.
I hope someone can take over the service Gerry at G&G provided for many years.

The OP may be able to contact a local amateur radio group and see if any of its members would do this rather simple repair.

One of the links had info about G&G. I hadn't realized that they closed.

Also, if I remember correctly, there was someone on here offering to do the repair for the one of the OPs.

I would have to go back and take a look at it again.
