I am new to scanners and recently got my first one to listen to the police and fire frequencies. I bought it second hand so I am kind of on my own as to how to use it. I've already programed about 20 freqs in but its always on SCAN. I don't know how to zero in on my desired frequency. I have already visited this website for help but it doesn't answer my question. http://support.radioshack.com/support_electronics/36547.htm I've tried the MANUAL button but it only allows you to go up instead of down. I need some help on how to adjust so I can choose 1 frequency that I'll be able to stay on. Thank you.

The only way that I've been able to listen to the channel I want to is by pressing the MANUAL button whenever a tone comes over. The only way that I know how to get on the channel that I want is by pressing MANUAL but it only allows you to go up by channels instead of down. I want to know what I press so I can listen to say channel 1 or 2 if I'm on chan. 14 and want to switch. At this time I don't know how to go down in channels.

Get it to be on Manual mode, then use the up and down arrows to get to the channel you want.
