I have an old pro-2022 that isn't producing any sound. No beeps or static with the squelch wide open. No sound from the speaker or the headphone. I can see the scanner scanning the frequencies I program. I programmed in the local weather and the scanner keeps stopping on that frequency when I press the scan button to continue scanning. So I assume all functions other than sound it working.
For a little history, I haven't used the scanner for many years. It was working fine before I stored it. I opened the top and disconnected the cable for the headphone jack thinking maybe it was shorting out the speaker like when you plug your headphones in but nothing. I need to test the speaker but my meter was at work but I'm betting the speaker will be fine.
I found the service manual but I'm far from an electronics tech. It's been many years since I helped my Dad assemble some Heathkit projects. Yep, showing my age. I was wondering if anyone here may have some insight. I was thinking of replacing IC3 (audio circuit) if I was able to find one. Unless someone here has any other ideas.
