Recently acquired a Pro-2042 with OptoScan 535 installed. i'm looking for a copy of the OS535 instructions showing the dip switch settings. I found the 2011 post regarding this subject and I'm hoping someone still has a pdf copy.

Nice find! I love my pro 2042 however I do not have the optoscan add on. There’s not much support out there for it. I’m hoping the info comes in here also.

Thanks for the information. The Pro-2042 had some mods that were not documented or obvious as to what the function was and an unfinished mod to increase the memory to 16,000 channels. The unknown mod was on the digital control board. I reverse engineered the circuit and it appears to be a mod to turn off the display back-light in response to the RESTART signal on CN502 pin 9. I'm not sure why someone would want to turn the back-light off unless it's to increase the life of the back-light.

When the OS535 are used the display goes blank but the backlight are still on. Perhaps it has something to do with that.

Ubbe, you may be correct. If the display is blank, having the backlight on would be annoying. I will investigate the connections between the OS535 and the PRO-2042. I have the PRO-2042 dissambled at this time to complete a mod and I need to replace the CR2020 memory backup battery. For the display backlight mod to work, would require a connection to the RESET input to the microprocessor on the PRO-2042. It would be nice to find a complete schematic of the OS535.

I think the OS535 schematics came with the board. I know I saved all the leftovers from the install 30 years ago and its at a storage facility just a mile up the road but I have 4 rooms there and a lot of boxes to open and search through.

That sounds like a lot of work. I traced the circuit from CN502 pin 9, which is shown as "RESTART" on the schematic of the PRO-2042, to Q1 on the OS535 board. Q1 is a NPN darlington transistor. RESTART is connected to the collector and the emitter is grounded. Therefore, the modification, which was the reason I began investigating the circuit, turns off the display backlight when the OptoScan 535 board puts the PRO-2042 in remote mode by grounding the RESTART signal. RESTART is also refereed to as RESET and is wired to the RESET switch available at the back of the PRO-2042.
