Is anyone here useing the pro-2051, and if so what do like about it and dont like about it. I have had mine for a while and got the pro-97 as a gift about two weeks after i bought the 2051. and have just started messing with 2051 and it works nice and and can do a few things that the 97 can not do like have ten sub banks in one bank for trunking very cool to have, with the 97 you have 10 banks and no sub banks for trunking I.E. you put one control channel in a bank and the dec codes and your done with that bank, in the 2051 you can break down a big system like king or snohomish countys into 10 sub banks in one bank the pro-96 & 2096 can do this, in each sub bank in the 2051 you can put ten dec codes, the only thing i dont like is that it will not display the name of the people you are listening to to like the 97 just the dec codes. i guess i am going to have to buy the pro-96 to have the best of both worlds.

I use my Pro-2051 in my truck and the Pro-97 to carry around. I like the way the 2051 scans, but I wish it had an alphanumeric display. On the other hand, the 97 doesn't have the highway patrol monitor function, which is kind of fun to play with. (A little like a scanner and radar detector combo)

By the way, the Pro-97 does have 5 subbanks per trunking bank.

I have been putting more then 1 control channel in the bank I tried to program. Is this a problem?

It could be, they say that you should not do this, the control channel tells the talk group the next freq. to use, now that given i have put more then one control in a bank the problem with that is you have two or more control channels trying to tell the scanner what to do in the same bank so it will only follow the talk group of the control channel, active at that second, now this given with a large talk group like seattle there are a few different ways to deal with this, one way would be to use the sub bank fuction of your pro-97 there are 5 sub banks per bank for talk group IDS. or you can put a single control cannel in each bank and only a few talk group ID in that bank a big wast of space.

"A little like a scanner and radar detector combo"

You mean that the pro-2051 is a radar detector?

does it work in Canada Ontario ?

it is not a radar detector, most highway patrol cars have mobile extenders or vechicular repeaters, whenever a dispatcher transmits to any car in there system then repeaters in all cars are activated,The pro -2051 picks this up from cars that are with in about 3 miles of the pro-2051.
