Trying to use a pro 2052 for Milsat. Can the mode be changed to nfm either by front panel or Scan Control Software?
Thanks

I believe the receive mode is locked to the frequency band in question. I know there was a modification published to convert the VHF mil air band to AM, but I've not seen one for FM in the UHF mil air band.

I own 2 Pro-2052s to this day. It was a great machine.
+1. I see no way to change the receive mode from the front panel.

I bought two PRO-2052's when Radio Shack was closing them out for a ridiculously low price. Agreed, they are great radios. I still use mine for aviation and other analog services.

I would agree with what both @tvengr and @wtp said. Looking at the VHF AM mod, I believe it forces everything the scanner does into AM. It would be safe to assume that modding it to use FM every time would force the entire thing into FM. That being said, I get sat pirates pretty easily on my BC125AT. Prices are fairly affordable for the 125 as well.

My 2052's are still going strong scanning civil air, mil air, ham and rail though. It is a strong machine for what it is capable of. I'd repurpose the 2052 to it's strengths. It does have the ability to be computer controlled/logged both through Scan Control and ID Tracker. I've been working away at a script that reads the serial data and either renames the vox recording or changes metadata to be compatible with the likes of Rdio Scanner and Trunking Recorder.
