RS Pro-82 Program Software

I know this is a long shot, but I just "inherited" a PRO-82 handheld. I know how to manually program it, but according to the manual, it can be software-programmed. I have the cable, but unable to find compatible software. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I don't believe there is any programming software available for the PRO-82. A scanner without alpha tags or trunking is very easy to program manually.

Did you check the "Software" link?

I don't guarantee that I have it, but I'm always on the lookout, and I ask that anyone who finds anything (especially anything old/vintage/aged!) send me a copy to put up there as well. I had a gdrive associated with my radio email address that wasn't doing anything, so I gave it something useful to do. 20GB there, just doing nothing. . .

The PRO-82 was a new product when Windows 98 computers with serial ports ruled the earth. There are programs from back then that can program the PRO-82. Getting them to run on high speed Windows 11 computers may be quite difficult. Here are two programs you can try.

Load 83 found at Radio Scanner Modifications and Information. The links are at the bottom of the page. Originally written for the PRO-83, Load83 has the flexibility to talk to other scanners like the PRO-82 by changing baud rate and adding delay between commands. This is explained on page 9 of the PDF manual which you should read carefully in its entirety.

Prolink is another scanner programming software supporting the PRO-82 that claims to run on Windows XP. Find it at glyff.net - ProLink. There is also info about making a programming cable that might be useful if your cable gives problems.
