we have several trunk systems in the pittsburgh area.

can anyone make some suggestions as an easier and more understandable way of programming the trunk systems.

Looks like Allegheny county is Open Sky and not monitorable. The City uses a Motorola Hybrid system. There is good info about setting up the fleet maps in the database (top of the page). Entering the freqs. is easy. You only need the control channels. 857.2625, 858.2625, 849.2625 & 960.2625. Just put all 4 freqs. in two separate banks.
FIRST, program the fleet maps, see page 33 in the manual. Then enter the freqs. following the 7 steps starting on page 31.

i am very aware as to the radio systems pgh area has, i should have mentioned that.

only the jail and city / county muni services have 800. No fire ems police services in maj of western pa have 800 w/ exception of digital 800 /\/\ in westmoreland and analog /\/\ in fayette.

the open sky is state wide and useless.. ask lancaster county

I programmed fayette county in one bank and really do not hear much at all. hmm

Is there anyone from Pgh area that will be able to tell me if i can pick up Fayette COunty in the penn hills area if i am on top of a hill (home location)?

This trunk tracking scanner is all new to me.. so with that said, the directions on how to put in a fleet map, talk groups is very foreign.

I would suggest jumping over to the Penn. forum, and perhaps better still, joining up with the Western Pa. Yahoo group below which covers Pittsburgh...
