Has anyone noticed that the backlight on the 2055 dims just a bit when it receives a voice channel ? It is only noticable in my car at night.

Now that you mention it, I’m looking at it now and yes mine does too. I would have never noticed, THANKS!!! Now it’s going to bug the s**t out me! Ha! Just kidding. But it is noticeable now that you pointed it out, I just hope it’s not the beginning of a bigger problem.

I don't have one of these but I've seen this on various devices (not just scanners),
almost seems like the power supply doesn't quite have enough wattage to simultaneously
power audio and the light so it compromises. I'd be curious if there was a way to shut off
the light during the audio if the sound level would increase.

I have not noticed if the sound level would increase, but I have noticed that on some frequencies that have some static, the static would disappear or get less noticeable if I turn off the backlight.

Interesting. I've got several PRO-2055s I've been using at my desk that I haven't noticed any flickering of the display on. (I've had both SWMBO and both of our children checking, too.) 'Course it could be possible that because I am running them off of a `DC Power Strip', I've got several PRO-2096s, a couple SWL/HF radios, a couple 3 - 4 other scanners and other gadgets like active couplers and active antenna power injector hooked up, that's powered by a fairly large, 25A, power supply and a big Optima battery whenever we have and `outage' *and* I run the backlights in the `dim', it's more than bright enough for me, setting? (I am also using the factory supplied DC power cables on all of them.) Even when things get `crazy' around here and I actually have *everything* on I've never seen them flicker. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on them to see if it is something that may `develop' with age? {WAN GRIN!}

I only notice the flickering when I am scanning a trunked system. Conventional freqs never do this.

i also notice this but figured it was its way to tell the user that it's getting sketchy signal from a long distance away
