I just bought a pro-2096 and programmed it, however it doesn't seem to be decoding Apco-25. It is a non trunking voice only freq. I left it on FM, it recognized that it was digital and now in the corner says DG, however all I hear is jumble.

Decoding

If it is jumble-warbly sounding, then they are probably encrypted. If you are hearing a motorboat sound, then the scanner is not decoding. Sometimes my 2096 doesn't decode right away.

What frequency? What agency? How does it sound on other scanners?

Are you using a portable radio to test it? You are desencing the receiver.

I'm willing to bet it's encrypted. On conventional P25 the Pro-96 sometimes will also 'hang' for 20 or 30 seconds after the transmission is done before the speaker re-mutes and it goes on it's merry way.
