Firstly, I have looked through the archives for a solution to this problem but didn't find a clear answer. Basically, two of the LCD segments on my Pro-2096 appear "smudged" when the scanner is elevated using the metal stand. At normal elevation the smudging is still their but is less noticeable. I thought this might be a temperature related issue however increased heat or cold make no difference to the appearance of the LCD .

Can this problem be fixed with the ribbon-cable mod or do I need to do something more drastic ? I hope my display is not on its way out ...:(

Any help appreciated.

2096 Problem

Hello,

I sent my 2096 to the repair shop in Texas through my local Radio shack. They told me 49.00 labor and 51.00 for the part $ 100.00 total . I waited over 70 days for the part to come in and it never did. I then told them to please return my scanner and sold it for parts on e bay . Good luck and Happy Scanning . P.S. F Y I ONLY The repair shop told me the early models of the 2096 had the screen problem My scanner was 07A 04

I suspected that it would need repairing but it's not really practical for me to send it back as I live in Australia :)

My Pro-2096 has a date code of 01A05. Looking through the archives I've seen people who have problems with the display in later revisions of this scanner, some as late as 2007. Must be a quality control issue or a production glitch.
