Have you tried posting in the Michigan state forum?
That's where you are going to get the most info for your question.

Not sure but it sounds like you also need some software for your 2096. I have a Pro 197 and use Win500 to import form RR. then the software will 'program' the scanner. check the articles here on the Wiki for your 2096 (or the handheld Pro96) and see where that takes you. There is a bit of learning that goes with this hobby, it is part of the fun (or not).

Good luck and always feel free to ask questions on the forums-we all started out sometime and helping others (or getting help) is what the forums are for.

Have fun and 73

The OP is using ARC 96 software which is the correct program for that scanner. His scanner will decode P25 phase I signals which is what his county is using.

You have the right software and a scanner which will decode the digital traffic in your county. Are you using the Radio Shack cable? I read somewhere else where someone was using a different cable which did not allow his computer to communicate with his scanner. If you have the Radio Shack cable, does it indicate it is uploading into your scanner?

Thanks to all that have responded....the cable appears to be fine....though it is not an official Radio Shack cable it does upload and download from and to scanner with no issues. I have downloaded the RR database via my cable to the ARC96 software and then from ARC96 to scanner with no issues yet I get really nothing.....If I reload the original scanner setup from when new in 2006 I do get some fire and police calls from a couple areas but if left on for an hour I might get 2 or 3 actual voices....do I need to reband this or any other hints......there are some guys on Ebay that indicate they will sell me a Pre-loaded setup and was wondering if that might be the best way to get her running......just having some fun but getting pricey now....lol......any comments welcome.....thanks to all!

Hello gmwa_pro, just what have you programmed in, or better yet could you attach your scanner file to a post and someone could take a look at it.

got it gmwa is there a reason you don't have Michigan's Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) in there, according to the database...All Police, Fire, and EMS agencies utilize this system in Washtenaw County for their primary communications system.

You could, I'm working on something here too, I also noticed that your banks are a little boogered up...bank 6 had all the freqs for bank 5 and 5 had all the freqs for 4 up to bank 3 I believe
