I received a new PRO-528 1000 Channel Trunking Scanner for Christmas.
I have been a long time scanner listener but this trunking system has me lost.
I live in South East Iowa and wonder what system should i work with?
Any advice would be appreciated as I'm totally lost here.
Thanks in advance
Dennis

Making progress PRO-528

I now have it programed using butelsoftware but still lost on how to program Trunked systems such as RACOM & Alliant Energy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Heartcar, go to the database here, click on your state (Iowa), then pick the counties you are interested in hearing. Click on the RACOM tab, then scroll down to the county (system), and put them in your scanner. Remember RACOM is an EDACS (so make sure the scanner is in that mode for that bank) system which uses what is called LCN (logical channel number). You must not put anything in the first channel of the bank you use . For example , 5 freq. are listed----you will put them in slots 1-5-----not 0---skip that one. I do not have a 528----so you may want to post a few questions in the Radioshack forum also. Hope that helps, once you get the hang of it, its not so bad. Mike

In the PRO528 the first channel in every bank is 1, therefor the above is not correct.
The small number preceding the freq. found in the database is the channel number where you must put that freq.
For example, if you want to program the Bettendorf site in Bank 1;
Channels 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 in your PRO528 are not used. The first freq., 856.7625, goes into channel 6. Channels 7 & 8 are not used, then the remaining freqs. go into channels 9 through 15.
For detailed step by step prgramming instructions, join this group for the PRO528 and the PRO433:

Yes, the scanners with banks that start with 000, 100, etc., like my PRO-95, make things very confusing.

Thanks for all the help.
I'm still learning but perhaps after I join the group it will
give me a better understanding how to program it.
Why do they have to make it so complicated?

PRO-528 Help

OK i have spent 7 days working on this and I'm getting close
only now i have new problem. I programed in my local airport
and CB frequencies and after they are downloaded to the scanner
it turns all airport frequencies to 54.000 and all CB frequencies to
29.000 . Is that because those frequencies are stored in the scanners
database from the factory? And if so how do I clear it out?

Only way I would know hwo to do it is to reset the whole scanner or put in a different frequency.
