What is the problem with the radio?

You already know the problems. You replied to this thread a few times before.
Go and reread post number 3 and you have all the info you'll need

I got back with my father in law on this scanner and he said he does not believe the issue with the radio is due to it being dropped, so I'm unclear on what happened when the radio stopped working properly.

So I went back to fiddling with the radio. I took it apart and put it back together with hopes that the contacts weren't seating properly and it still seemed frozen other than showing Scanning but nothing else going on. So I grabbed the radio and squeezed inward on the antenna side (side with the antenna where the contact pins are located) and it started scanning slowly or sometimes at its normal rate, noticed the "S" indicator light again and got a blue LED light once. Sometimes if I applied too much pressure I'd get a low battery message and it would shut off. Also while doing this, it was as if the squelch knob was turned fully counter clockwise.

I got with G&G and explained what issues I was having that I posted in post #3 of the thread (before I messed with it this time) and was told he may or may not be able to fix it due to it seems to have multiple issues. So I gave up on it and ordered a Whistler 1040 because I didn't feel like taking a gamble on paying shipping to send it off, a fee to have it inspected, and shipping to have it returned with possibly not being repaired.

I thought about also taking it to my father in laws and cloning his Pro-652 to it, but I doubt that's gonna help it.

Another option is Whistler Repair.
They can certainly fix it but it would likely be around $80-$100.
The PRO-651 has the same electronics as the Whistler WS1040 which is still in production (parts, resources, etc. probably wouldn't be an issue).

I contacted Whistler on it after I acquired the radio and was informed that they do not repair my model. Sent it off to G&G today.

I've bought my last two scanners on ebay.

Including the 651. Been using it for over six years now.

Thanks! I should have read the earlier posts.

I've been searching locally for someone to repair a Pro-651 and I'm coming up empty. I noticed while searching a business named G & G Communications specializes in repairs with this radio and I'm wondering if I should reach out to them.

Looking for suggestions.

Thanks.
I sent my Pro 651 to G&G in New York. I was told it had a bad on/off/squelch on it. No parts available for it.
He is sending it back to me. G&G seemed to very knowledgeable but just no parts

Contacting Uniden as mentioned on page 1 would be my next step...

I wonder how many (if any) other Radio Shack handhelds used the same squelch pot. Maybe the 97, 99, and 164 interchange and since those should sell for much less than a digital, a pot from one of those could be used for a donor?
