I am new to using this forum. I purchased a RadioShack Pro-688 digital scanner about a year ago and have had all sorts of trouble learning how to use it. Last week I was trying to listen to my usual Railroad frequencies and all of the sudden the display screen just went blank. I tried to turn it back on by using the power button but nothing happened. None of the buttons did anything. I could not turn it on (assuming that it was off) nor could I turn it off (assuming that it was on).
The batteries were recently charged but I replace them with freshly recharged batteries. Still nothing.
With a flashlight, I could see that there was some writing in the display. It showed "uP BootVer:RF1.1". That remains in the display using batteries or having it plugged in. It does disappear when I take out the batteries or unplug it.
I contacted Radio Shack but all they would do is refer me to RadioReference.com.
What do I need to do to get this thing back into gear?
