I had a quick question. Since it is 8 below right now, I decided to dig out some of my older scanners. I have been using WIN96 with my PRO-96 , and LOVE it! I also have a 92B that used to be my main handheld (between the 246-T, and PRO-96, it just doesnt get used that much), and I thought I would try the WIN 92 program. I have two questions, is it really FREE? And will my USB (20-047) cable work with the 92? I am thinking of putting it back in service as a dedicated RR and Public works scanner. Thanks for any help! Mike

Yep it FREE!

Yes the 20-047 cable should work fine.

Still enjoy my 92 & 2067 even with the goofy press scan to get it going on startup deal.

Thank you very much for the reply! The press to start drives me nuts. I cant believe how many times I have glanced over, to see my 92 staring back at me, waiting for THAT press of the key! Thanks again, Mike

Many many times I have though as I drove how quiet the county was then glanced at the 2067 to see it sitting on that one channel waiting for the key tap to start scanning. Duh!

You MAY need to use the stereo to mono adapter that came with the cable for 92 programming, as the serial cable was mono. Not sure on this though.

No option for extended freqs that I know of.....

Did you have to adapt the PCIF plug back down to mono or did the stereo plug work?

I did have to use the mono-plug. But everything is working great! One thing that was kind of strange , is that WIN96 is COM port 3 and WIN92 is COM port 4. I never un-plug the USB cord, just leave it plugged in all the time. Like I said though, everything seems to be working fine. Mike
