I like my Pro-93 TrunkTracker. It picks up most of what I like listening to and the alphtags make it easy to know which talkgroups I'm hearing. Last night the display blanked out completely with no warning. I seem to be receiving normally but there is nothing on the screen at all. I've tried resetting and removing/replacing the batteries with no luck. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve

Two ideas:

1- Open it up and see if all the connections are still attached.
2- Take it to RS and let them repair it.

Hi,

I have had the same problems. It seems to do it right after i replace the batteries. Ive tried resetting it, and it seems that the only way to fix it is to initialize it. Like i have, I suggest downloading Don Starr's PRO-93 Program and buying an uploading cable from Radioshack. So, if it happens again, all u have to do is upload it from your computer and, well, there it is! Weird how it blanks out huh? It hasn't happened in a good while though.

Did that. Everything seems in place.

Gave both those a try and still blank.

Depending on the cost I may do that. For now I'll just put it aside and use my BC-245, Pro-91 and Pro-92 until the BC-246 comes out then replace them all with that trunktracker.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds like your "display contrast" setting has changed itself. You might try downloading your .p93 file back into Win93 and seeing what the setting is. I leave it on "0" on my Pro 95, and would suspect that would be correct on the Pro 93 as well.

The Pro-93 will do this every so often for no reason. Some do it more often than others. Press Manual, then Func then 9, this will bring up the screen contrast, then use the up and down keys to adjust the contrast, press enter when it is to where you like.

Eng74-
That fixed it. Thanks. The only thing strange was that when I finally got it back up the font on the screen was bigger and only 2 lines of info were displaying. I pushed the reset button and now everything is back to normal and the scanner is trunktracking like a champ.
Thanks to everyone for their advice. It's good to have one of my favorite scanners working again.

Glad that helped. I have the 93 and 2053 and they are my favorits when I have trunking to do. I do like my 92/2067 for conv. with the pl. lets see what happens with the 2096.
