NOw that I have my programming porblems worked out I just bought a new antenna, same as the stock one just longer, I am not sure if I can tell the difference, seems a little stronger reception but could be placebo effect, still deabting if it is worth the 20 bucks or if I should return it. Any ideas for pro 95, monitoring for now mostly UHF/VHF. I was thinking about buying antenna for my car and using it in the house. Good thing radio shack has good return policy!

I have now bought the antennas mentioned above. I am still not sure if I am hearing improved transmissons. Still testing.

My Diamond RH77CA made a big improvement on my PRO95, 96 and 92. Heck it seemed to helped out on all of my radios.

so far it doesn't seem to make much difference. MAybe it's the freq's I am scanning. 150's, 460's, 470's, 480's. I don't know....I am still taking off the diamond and replacing with stock during a transmission and am not able to hear much of a difference

If you are getting a good signal to begin with, then you wont notice a difference.

i was hoping to hear imporvement in frequencies that are about 100 miles away. I can already hear them on and off, some channels better than others, but I was hoping the strength might increase

Hey all,

I bought an Outdoor VHF-Hi/UHF Scanner Antenna from Radio Shack and eventhough it's not setup outside and above my roof yet...I'm getting much clearer frequencies and I'm picking up some that I couldn't before with the orginal antenna. This is the same antenna that the Radio Shack store I went to was using for their Pro-96 (I would love to have that one).

I'm using that antenna with my Uniden SC200, I'm looking into getting an antenna for my truck, but I'm not sure which type yet.

I'm also interested in a long antenna to use when I can't be plugged into my antenna at home.
Dubbin, does the Diamond RH77CA have a BNC connector on it?

Thanks

I have a large selection of handheld radio and scanner antennas. Go to the Handheld Antenna Selection Matrix and look under the BN and BNX connector types. The BN connector is a regular BNC, and the BNX is a covered BNC. Both types will work well on any handheld scanner. Let me know if you want something but don't see it on there; I can order just about anything.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Jeff

100 miles away? I couldn't hear signals 100 miles away on the best monitoring day I ever had, using my 40 foot tower and multiple scanner antennas on it (not counting low band skip). Consider yourself lucky!

Another thing to consider is how easily these radios are to overload. I can’t use anything but the stock antenna on my PRO-95/96, because anything else totally wipes out my reception in the VHF range.
