My newly purchased PRO-95 seems to have a memory problem. It looks like I can only access 300 channels ie Chans 0-29 for each of the Banks 0-9. If I try entering more than that I get an invalid channel message.
I have tried both re-setting and re-initialising but with no change.
Unfortunately I purchased the black cable and only found out it was the wrong one for the job after trying both Win95 and RS downloader.

Has anyone gotten any suggestions?
Am doing something wrong?

Any comments would be a help- I dont want to send the unit back to the US from Europe just yet.

Thanks CLB.
Yes I think so - it has the trunking capability. The label on the back says PRO-95 and it works according to the published intructions apart from the channel numbers. Also the box says 95 on it - it was purchased last week in an RS outlet in Maine.

CLB By the way the thought you expressed had passed my mind that's why I checked the back panel!
I guess though I should research the PRO-93 further to see If I can spot any other similarities!

Bring the cable back and exchange it - they sold you the wrong cable, so you should have no problem.

Download Win-95 if you haven't already.

If it still refuses to take full programming, bring it back. It could be defective.

Cable or no cable, if you have bank one for example on while scanning you should be able to push program 55 program and be at channel 55, and if you keep pushing program after that it should go to 99.

Moved to the RS forum.

Also, the Pro-93 and Pro-95 are virtually the same radio with the exception of number of channels available. As eyes00only points out, channels entered by hand are not subject to software or cable needs. Also, the backs of the two models (except for the data plates) are the same so it is possible you have a Pro-93 with the wrong back on it.

Re: Pro-95 Memory Problem

It sounds like someone changed the guts of a Pro-93 into your Pro-95 case and returned it to the place you bought it. It's an old scam trick that happens now and then according to a friend of mine who manages a Radio Shack store. I would return it and demand a new Pro-95 and verify that it is indeed a 1,000 channel Pro-95.

Quite possibly... Happens all the time (especially with cell phones...) Someone once tried to return a Pro-96 to me with the guts of a pro-95 in it. My first tip off was when I turned it on and it had the green light instead of amber... If he hadn't bothered to hookup the power circuit, I might not have caught it and returned it as "defective." (Then, of course, the repair techs would have never let me live it down...)

He did mention he bought the scanner at an RS "outlet." If he meant an actual "outlet store," it very well could be a defective one... That's where the wierd stuff goes to pasture...

Thanks to everyone who replied. Yes I am now convinced that I have been 'had' and that the dealer sold a mis-boxed 93 with both the back and front panels changed. I hope others will take this as a warning. I am still considering what to do in order to resolve the matter properly.

if you just bought it just take it back and exchange for a real 95. The only thing that could go wrong is they think you did it so dont act supicious :)

You know why most Scanners don't want to work nowadays? Just read on the back sticker to from where it is made,LOL. Made in China! That's why. Allan.

To Doug,
Yes indeed I'd love to bring it back- trouble is the shop is about 3,000 or so miles away- I'm in Ireland they're in Maine. However I may get a friend who lives there to do it after Christmas.
Thanks to all of you who helped me with constructive information.
