Hi have a PRO 95 that I purchased but cannot find a cable for programming it here in Ontario Canada as Radio Shack does not sell them anymore. (in fact, Radio Shack Canada does not sell anything anymore with regards to scanners, CB's, car stereo etc)

I want to find out if anyone has the schematics for making my own cable and specific on programming and what I need. I am a newbie to this level of scanning (if I can't turn it on and listen I get lost. Well, not quite that bad but you get the idea  ).

If anyone can help me out with specific info I would really appreicate it.

Also, I hear that there is a wider band range available on these units but you have to unlock the capability. Can anyone tell em about that as well?

Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I checked that one out but I always like to have a couple of references to check over. However, it does seem to be the best there is so, now that I have that, is there somehwre I can ready programmed packets with trunking info in it? I find trunking really hard to figure out for programming. Or, does the WIN95 make it easier??

In My opinion, WIN-95 is great for beginners or experienced users. Download what You already have in the scanner, save the file. Setting up trunked banks are pretty straightforward. If You make a mistake, You have already saved Your original file, so You haven't lost anything. Take it one system at a time until You get the hang of it. Having done several of these "by hand", the software is a godsend! Check the Yahoo Groups for the -95 group and I believe there is a -93 /-95 group. I belong to a couple of -92/-93/-2067/-95 series groups, there is lot's of help available there..

Get one on eBay for 10 bucks. I doubt you could build one of the same quality for that price. Just make sure it's a TWO-WAY cable.

Thanks for the eBay Idea. I didn't think you would get one there. I'll check it out. The only advantage making one is you know what it takes and can fix it if it breaks. I figure it can't be that hard to do and I do know a bit about electronics and soldering.

I got My cable on Ebay. I don't remember if it was blackbag software? For some reason, that comes to mind. On Don Starr's site, there are a couple of links to cables. I remember the first -2067 I did. I took a couple of weeks getting several trunked and conventional systems with the text tags and such programmed. I was very proud of Myself. Then on one of the yahoo groups, someone posted a function pushing a combination while turning the unit on, to see control channel activity or something to that effect. Well, I did the wrong combination, and erased everything I had done. You only do that once!
