Pro-95 Won't Turn On

I was given a brand new sealed Pro-95 scanner a few years back. I installed batteries and messed with it a few times before removing the batteries and putting it on the shelf. I recently dusted it off and put new batteries in it and surprise surprise, it won't turn on. I've verified the batteries are within spec and the black battery tray is putting out voltage. I took the unit apart and found the solder had seperated on the positive battery contact but repairing that yielded no difference. Does anyone have any ideas of what could have gone wrong? Nothing else looked out of place in the unit and the on/off and volume knob ohm out correctly.

Contact "corrosion" between the battery holder and the contacts in the scanner. Just ONE idea. Batteries can show voltage when unloaded, and drop too low when under load. The connector for external power also has a switch in it that might not be making contact. It has a weak spring. Try inserting a plug and removing a couple of times. Just because batteries are new, it doesn't mean they are good.
