Pro-96 help

I just bought a Pro- 96, I also bought the programming cable from Radio Shack. I am not sure how to install it on my computer. I also have Win96. I cannot get the software to reconigze the scanner is connected to the USB drive.

Any help is appreciated.

I just got one (the connector) like 2 hours ago myself. u gotta figure out what COM ur USB is on (in device manager)

mine was COM 3.

With cable plugged into the USB slot, open device manager, check under Ports (Com & LPT). Should list a USB to Serial port number.

It should be inserted when you plug the cable into USB, unless the driver is already on your pc.

yes, not install but when OS looks for the driver, direct it there, or it'll find it there

i jut purchaced a pro -164 and cant program it,ive read and read the manual and even had radio shack program it at the store but im only getting a couple transmissions can anyone give me a step by step programming help thank you

Welcome to the Forum

Read the section called Defining a Channel. these would be for conventinal frequencies and should be around page 18 in the manual.

Read the section called Defining a Trunking Bank which should be around page 38 in the manual.

I don't have the scanner so can help much.

If this scanner is similar to the Pro-97, you can find a link under my signature for a one page shortcut to programming for the 97.

This thread is a big help for me too because I'm about to go to radio shack this evening to buy the programming cable so that I can use Win96 to program my Pro96.
