I ordered one while my OL was greasing up the turkey. (Shh. .)
The rebate coupon must be printed from Acrobat reader when you order.

Last week they sent me a replacement ratshack credit card with a 10% off coupon only good in stores. I guess I will save it till the 2096 comes out--soon I hope.

I am enjoying spending the kids' dwindling inheritance :)

Brand newbie here, just starting to read old posts and trying to understand all the jargon. Would this sale on the pro-96 be a good starting off point for listening in on what is happening in and around Colo Spgs? I don't mind buying more than I need now, and learning to appreciate all of the features later.

Is encryption in the (near) future that would make the 96 an expensive paperweight?

It would be good for you becuse you could listen to both Colo Springs 3600 digital system and the the state 9600 system. I doubt if they will ever encrypt everything, but a few groups are already.

If you do it, don't forget to print the rebate out at the same time. I doubt if it will ever get much cheaper unless you buddy up to a RS Manager.

Yes the Pro-96 is a very appropriate radio for El Paso County and Colorado Springs while you only need a 3600 baud radio currently there plans are to go complete 9600 baud DTRS digital within a year so the 96 will be the radio to have.
