I have never used a PRO-96, but it sounds like you are in search mode. In search mode, it will stop on any active talkgroup on the system unless you lock it out. If it stops on a TG that you do not have programmed into that system, it will only show the TGID. If you put it in scan mode, it will only stop on the talkgroups you have programmed for that system.
For instance, it is very common to hear the state patrol on the Hennepin Co system even though their home system is the MN Metro system. If you were in search mode on the Hennepin Co system in this case, you would only see the TGID unless you had the state patrol TGs programmed into the Hennepin system.
In fact, (being in Hamel I am assuming) you may want to do exactly that if you want to listen to the state patrol. They almost always have units affiliated with the Hennepin system, so you would recieve them much better since the MN Metro tower is in downtown Mpls. You may also want to do this with all the patch/tac channels. (P-TAC, E-TAC, MINSEF, etc) This uses up a little more memory, but it makes for better listening IMO.
Sorry if this is a little confusing, its all a bit complicated to learn if you are new to trunking/digital scanning. I just learned it all myself not too long ago and am still learning more about it every day.
