One option is to use a cigarette lighter adapter. This will plug into the cigarette lighter socket in your car and provide 12V power to the scanner. Another option is to use a USB adapter. This will plug into the USB-A outlet in your car and provide 5V power to the scanner. However, you will need to use a USB-to-12V converter to step up the voltage to 12V.

It was made by GRE. I ordered a wire directly from them. Otherwise you need to find the correct size connector and polarity. Not impossible to do, but can be a headache. 1mm of difference and it won’t fit.

Kenwood desktop charger cords (for commercial HTs) are the worst for me, they don’t match anything else I own and I need to seek OEM only.

Three Power Options (Pro 97) - lets you power the scanner using internal batteries; alkaline, Ni-Cad, or Ni-MH; external AC power using an optional 9 volt 300-mA AC adapter/charger (and RS ‘type C’ adaptaplug); or DC power using an optional 9 volt DC cigarette-lighter power cable.

9 volt.
Power supply:4.8-6 VDC (Four R6 / AA alkaline or rechargeable batteries)
or 9 VDC external (Barrel connector)

not here to sell anything, just get some kind of voltage changer and use 9 volts.
