I need help programming an EDACS system.
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=65

I am using bank 4. I have 401 programmed to the red control channel and set for ED. The talkID group has not been programmed, however I have set it to ED and I am scanning open.

Do I need to program the other black channels, or are those voice? I thought the 97 was a control-channel only scanner.

thanks in advance.

EDACS systems must be programmed using ALL channels, and in LCN order. Only MOT systems can be "control channel only".

EDACS must have all freqs programed in in the correct slot (control channel only does not work with EDACS), the little number by each freq is the position it must go in, you need channels 401 through 407 programed in to have it work in bank 4, channel 400 must be blank.

Yeah, program in every channel you see listed, in the order you see it. Talkgroups aren't required as you said, as long as the bank remains open. Keep in mind though, you'll be hearing lots of stuff you might not even care about...

Works like a charm now.

Yeah. I left my usb programming cable at home and don't feel like programming the talkgroupIDs in by hand.

I'll do that tonight.

Thanks again.

Not necessarily in the ORDER listed, but in this system it happens to be in correct.
The freqs. need to be in the exact CHANNELS, e.g. 401, 402, 403 etc.
In another EDACS system it might be 401, 404, 405, 407, 410, 415.
