Pro 97 needing some help please-Long

I am kinda returning as a born again scanner drop out and have a new Pro 97.
I really wanted to get into to this due to the preceived ease of computer programing of the frequencies.

I have the cable from Radio shack serial to usb adapter unit and the driver installed.
I have the Win 97 and the scan lite programs both and I cannot get the unit to download to the program. Ever other kind of device seems to work for me from the usb ports and I have tried them all and configured them all from blue tooth to scan card.

I am using the up arrow plus 1 command to up load and can see the 97 uploading the info and can see the light on the dig converter flashing with data but alsways the same thing.... nothing in the program.

I as an engineer do understand it could be one of a thousand differing circumstances but if some of you could please share some of the most common failure to upload problems It
might help me out here.

Make sure you have the latest driver for the adapter. And, if it's an ATEN adapter, there's no driver available (that I know of - someone please post a link to one and prove me wrong) that will work with scanners.

Actually it is (I am pretty sure) that you are doing too much. You should not have to interact with the radio at all (other than plugging the cable in), the software should handle both download and upload notification to the radio via the menu. I am not as familiar with ScanCat Lite as I could be, but I know that you don't need to do anything to the radio unless it is a Pro-2052 (which has no bearing on your problem).

First let me welcome you to the site. As this was your first post, let me make a couple of suggestions.

1. Always review your post before sending it.
2. Always read and understand the thread before you jump in.​

Now, in case you are scratching you head over that, take a look at your post and compare what you said to the following:

Don Starr is the name, not "don scott".
The original poster stated that he was using Win97 software.​

The whole purpose of the thread was that he was having trouble using the software you suggest he try. :wink:

I got a usb cable from RadioShack today for my PRO97 and it had a bad stereo to mono adaptior cable with it , I had one and changed and now it works fine with Win97 from Don Starr.
