When my 97 stops on a conversation it displays for example; MOT: 00176

If I want to monitor what 00176 is saying only how do I do that? If I push the orange T button like the manual says, it only gives an error beep and does nothing. If I push MAN it stops on the frequency but you losed the conversation.

I have Win97 and can upload my setting if anyone is able to help I would appriciate it very much.
thanks
Steve

Page 76 of the pdf manual:
"You can set your scanner to follow a trunking signal that you
want to track during scanning. While the scanner is stopped
on a voice channel (VC appears), hold down TRUNK until ID
hold ON. appears."

Ahh Orange T and VC

I never get "VC" when it stops on an active freq.

The display says exactly;

M200MO 858.76250
pri att DLY lo+
Bank 2 Chan 00
MOT: 49488

It's never said VC anywhere - I can hear them talking, then when they stop it continues scanning even if I hold the orange T down.

I am thinking I may have something programmed wrong so its not seeing voice channels as voice channels, only data or something like that.

But the VC display is a big tip where to look, thanks!

Speaking of "VC"..from the guys here I learned it means Voice Channel and the "+" means it's OPEN and "-" means it's CLOSED channel....But, my question now is...I get the "VC" when at home on the Anne Arundel County Trunking net BUT when I go on the road I only get the "lo" setting to come up...Do you have to be within a certain range to receive a certain strength of signal?

Make sure Bank 2 is set to "MOT" not "Conv"

Steve,

What you're describing sounds like you have the channels programmed correctly as MOT (Motorola), but you do not have the bank programmed as MOT. Since you're using Win97 check the line in Bank 2 at the top. There's a drop-down box after "Type" where you need to select "MOT". I'm guessing it currently says "CONV" for conventional scanning.

Since you've been scanning in conventional mode make sure that you haven't locked out the control channels (buzzing sound).

PSE (Pause) not TRUNK to pause on talk group

Steve + Jayfurd,

I've never noticed that error in the PRO-97 user manual before but the button to press is "PSE" (Pause), not TRUNK. On page 73 they correctly describe that the TRUNK button is used to store a talk group.

Correction:
A single press of TRUNK stores the talk group.
Pressing and holding down TRUNK does pause on a talk group. (PDF is correct.)

An easier way is to press PSE once to pause on a talk group.

I have a question that's a variation on the original question of this thread. Say I want to listen to group 12345 and I haven't heard any activity out of 12345 yet - is there a way to manually select that group for monitoring (like selecting a particular channel if it was just a conventional freq.) instead of having to wait for activity?
